Viewer Thoughts
This film had some mixed reviews, with the majority being one or two stars. The people who enjoyed it seemed to be in it for the gore. This is understandable as bodies literally explode. While gore isn’t necessary for horror or monster horror, some people do love that.
My Thoughts
The movie itself was fine. For me it’s more of a background movie. Though not too background as half of it is in Serbian with subtitles. The plot had potential but the writing was a bit slow and the acting underdone. Tentacles squirm out of a guy’s orifices and people just stand there staring? Shock can cause strange reactions but this wasn’t it. Not to mention when the parasite explodes out of its host.
Honestly though, I can forgive the underacting and weak writing. Not everything is going to be Emmy worthy. What really ruined it for me was the music. They used an edgy rock style music any time something was happening. Opening the movie to introduce the parasite, edgy rock music. Guy pulls a body into a field to bury it, edgy music. It pulled me out of the drama. It felt more appropriate for a comedy making fun of horror.
Do I regret watching it? No. It was a quick watch while I did some laundry.
